The Benefits of a Business Licence

Want to get on Shop the County? A local business licence is your ticket to ride.

Shop the County is designed to help businesses in the Lac Ste. Anne region succeed by putting them on the map for all to see, and by giving them the knowledge and resources to help them grow even stronger. To get listed in the directory, and to access the learning library resources, you need a valid business licence.

You can purchase or renew your business licence for $50 per year from either Lac Ste. Anne County or the Town of Onoway.

A business licence is a good investment — especially with Shop the County as your marketing partner. Having a licence shows your customers that you're a legitimate business that complies with local laws and regulations.

I already have a business licence, but I can't find the number. Can I still get onboard?

Sure, we've got your back. There's a grace period of about a month built into Shop the County. Go ahead and set up your profile; we'll give you some time to add your business licence number. Don't wait too long though, or we'll have to un-publish your listing.

My business operates in the County, but my community doesn't have a business licence program.

Any business in the Lac Ste. Anne region can purchase a business licence from either Lac Ste. Anne County or the Town of Onoway.

Unfortunately, we don't yet recognize business licences from municipalities other than Lac Ste. Anne County or the Town of Onoway. The Town and County are always open to alliances with their municipal neighbors...but unless a Town, Village or other locality is added as a partner region, a business licence from these places won't suffice.

My competitor has a listing on Shop the County, and they're not from Lac Ste. Anne County or the town of Onoway. What gives?

Hmm...that means they've either purchased a business licence from Lac Ste. Anne County or the Town of Onoway, or they've somehow slipped past our ultra-high-tech security perimeter. Don't worry though, we'll find them!

50 bucks for a business licence seems like a lot of money. That's, like, four dollars a month!

Shop the County is one of the ways Lac Ste. Anne County and the Town of Onoway are working to provide value for local businesses. If you ask us: four bucks a month to get onto a fast, user-friendly business directory that's marketed by two municipalities seems like a pretty sweet deal.  Plus, having a business licence helps you qualify for benefits like small commercial tax relief (which is 25% on municipal tax). Cha-ching!
